Overview
The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ offer essentially the same core experience in two sizes. Both US models use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor, run Samsung’s One UI software, and share the same rear camera configuration: a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom. The main buying decision is therefore less about photography and more about screen size, battery capacity, storage, and comfort.
The S24 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, while the S24+ moves to a 6.7-inch QHD+ panel. Both support adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. The Plus also brings 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB, a larger battery, and higher maximum wired charging power. Reviewers generally regard both as polished everyday phones, with bright screens and dependable performance, rather than dramatic upgrades over their immediate predecessors. Samsung promises seven generations of operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates from launch.
Who it's for
Choose the Galaxy S24 if you want a relatively compact Android flagship that is easier to pocket and use one-handed. It keeps the same processor and camera hardware as the Plus, so choosing the smaller phone does not mean stepping down to a midrange experience. Its lighter body is particularly useful for commuting, navigation, and frequent messaging. Buyers who mostly stream content and use cloud storage may also be comfortable with its lower starting storage capacity.
The Galaxy S24+ makes more sense for reading, video, gaming, and split-screen work. Its larger battery generally provides more endurance, although actual results depend on signal strength, brightness, and workload. The additional RAM offers more headroom for multitasking, and US configurations start at 256GB. Neither phone supports the S Pen, so buyers who specifically want handwriting or Samsung’s more versatile long-range camera system should compare the Galaxy S24 Ultra separately.
Things to know before buying
Check that a listing is a US model, since Galaxy S24 processors differ by region. Also distinguish an unlocked purchase from a carrier promotion: advertised savings may require a trade-in, an eligible service plan, or bill credits spread over several years. Compare the final cash price, storage capacity, activation requirements, and warranty coverage rather than the headline discount. Neither phone has a microSD slot, making the storage choice permanent.
A wall charger is not included. Reaching the maximum 25W charging rate on the S24 or 45W on the S24+ requires a compatible USB PD PPS charger; the Plus also needs a suitable 5A cable for its highest charging rate. Camera processing can look saturated, and moving subjects indoors remain a recurring community complaint. Galaxy AI features vary in usefulness, and some require an account or internet access; check current availability and terms before treating them as a purchase incentive.
