Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Smartypants AI ("we", "us") handles information when you use our website. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run a working price-comparison service.

• Search queries. When you search for a product, we store the query text so we can build and cache the product page, improve results, and understand what shoppers are looking for. Searches are not tied to your identity — we don't require an account to use the site.
• Usage data. We collect basic technical information such as pages viewed, clicks on store links, and approximate device/browser type. This helps us know which pages need refreshed prices and which features are used.
• Information you send us. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to include, such as your email address and the content of your message.

We use the information above to:

• Build, cache, and keep product pages accurate and fresh
• Improve search results and prioritise what to cover next
• Measure how the site is used and detect abuse
• Respond to your questions and support requests

We do not sell your personal information.

We use essential cookies and local browser storage to keep the site working (for example, remembering your preferences between visits). We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the site will keep working, though some preferences may reset.

Smartypants AI is a price-comparison service. Links to retailer websites may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. When you click a store link, you leave our site and that retailer's own privacy policy applies to what happens next. We log that a click happened (and to which retailer) but we do not receive your purchase details beyond what affiliate networks report in aggregate.

We share data only with service providers that help us operate the site — for example, our hosting and database provider, our AI and price-verification services, and affiliate networks. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Search queries, cached product data, and usage records are kept as long as they remain useful for running and improving the service. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request. You can ask us to delete information you've sent us at any time — see "Your choices" below.

You can use the site without an account. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser at any time. To request access to, or deletion of, information associated with your emails to us, contact us at our contact page and we will handle your request promptly.

Smartypants AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
